There was a
tragedy at a home for dog's: TheManchester Dog's Home in the UK. 60 dogs died in a fire that burned the
home to the ground. And, because of this tragedy - a group of dachshunds (and
their owners) got together and organized a fund raiser to help rebuild the home
A group of 16 dachshunds came together for special play
day and coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Manchester Dogs’ Home.
The canine caper was hosted by Bernie Bowling, who runs
the Sir Wagalot Dog Walking service and Slinky Dog Hotel in Heaton Moor.
All the dogs who attended usually go to Bernie for
boarding or daycare.
The four-legged guests sported ‘Paws for the Cure’
bandanas and tackled an agility course before tucking into dog cake, while
their owners enjoyed a coffee.
Macmillan believe it was the first ‘World’s Biggest Coffee
Morning’ event with a guest list entirely made up of dachshunds.
It raised £554 for Macmillan and £100 for Manchester Dogs’
Home, which was used to buy toys for the home.
